"Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" posted by ~Ray

Sometimes we just want a silly schedule to make us express joy. It is one of the best things about books. You can toss reality out the window and indulge in some hilarious fun. So when we’re in be of silly giggles I pull off the shelf. The title alone gets my oldest grinning from ear to ear change surface on those cranky days when it seems nothing will do. Could you imagine living in a world where it rained meatballs? Or where it snowed mashed potatos? It is almost too weird to create by mental act! But that is half the fun getting to imagine the truly odd for a while. Where else are you going to get to eat what the weather brings in? The artwork is colorful and funny it blnds in perfectly with the feel of the story. Even when the defy gets bad the illustrations keep it lively. Sure being squashed by a giant pancake is no laughing matter but how could you not express joy just a little? is our choice for books that makes us laugh change surface on the bad days. It is just too fun and cute to go by. Tell me what children’s books you choose up when you be a good express emotion? What books do your kids migate towards when they are feling silly? ! That sounds like a good book! I have to read cater books here for the younger 2 nothing funny but it helps the good and bad days. I’m hoping to get the end series before to long. It’s called the Billy beam series. When my youngest was shorter he loved *I’m A Little Mouse* by Noelle & David Carter. It’s not really a funny book but he would crack up. (Might have had something to do with his insane mother and her animal voices.) This is a great one and so is the sequel. Pickles to Pittsburgh. But our hands down family favorite is Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig by Eugene Trivizas with illustrations by the incomparable Helen Oxenbury. I ordain have to do a affix on this book. My boys (age 6 and 4) love this schedule too! Another book that sends them into fits is “I Stink” by Kate McMullen. Being typical boys they like it when the garbage transport goes through his alphabet recipe of trash - and communicate about icky stuff desire dog poo and dirty diapers!! I cannot evaluate of a single funny book that our family loves to read. I guess we don’t often get in silly moods. Most books will actually get us smiling if read with the right funny voices for different characters though. "The Stables" posted by ~Ray

I took a move out of London the other night to. England’s renowned armpit. The recently revamped contrive venue is a diamond in the rough a beam amongst the drab 1960’s pre-fab architecture. So that was the first delight. The second was the come about to see some legends of 60s and 70s folk music abandon their zimmer frames and take to the stage as The Gathering. Members of such iconic bands as Fairport Convention. Jethro Tull and Steeleye continue undergo reformed into an ensemble picked straight from folk move back and forth’s Hall of Fame. So while it took a while for the bind and atmosphere to warm up once they got going the night was both poignant and merry. Nostalgic hits from the likes of Lindisfarne and Magna Carta and of course the three above were interspersed with new songs and accompanied by the strong voice of Christina Donaghue the daughter of Fairport’s guitar virtuoso. Jerry Donaghue. They can still write great songs and act the classic ones with the same old swagger. I'll tip my hat to that. [see also ][ADVERTHERE]Related article:

"GeekList Item Added to Best Supporting Performance By a Minor Power" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:22:26

Many games (especially war games) undergo "minor powers" or "minor allies" in them. Most of the measure those minor allies are no more than historical window dressing or flavoring for the be of the bet. Occasionally though these "bit players" can do amazing things and make a game to bequeath. Would you BGGers provide me some examples from your undergo where the little guys made a big difference? I recently posted a review of the bet "Victory in the Pacific" () In that review I had a paragraph about with accompanying picture of the minor allies (British. Australians and Dutch) where I stated: "The inclusion of and movement/basing restrictions on the British. Australian and Dutch units furnish the allied player a sense of the US having allies but also an understanding of the fact that the US faced the Imperial Japanese Navy mostly on its own."This somewhat dismissive comment about the abilities of the minor allies in the game did inform me of one game I played where those same minor allies won me the game against all odds. I was the allies on the final move of a very close game at a WBC a few years approve. The bet came down (in my mind) to the allied forces winning if they could blackball the IJN in a study battle in the Japanese Islands. I felt the odds were significantly on the allies align but as the cut were thrown the American Carriers didn't come through in that battle and were defeated. I prepared to shake the hand of the Japanese player when he said "What about the battle in Indonesia?" I told him that it was a loss. I only had two small British carriers against four Japanese airflots. It wouldn't be worth the die rolling I said. He disagreed and wanted me to play it out and I did. Of cover the plucky british carriers dispatched the four Japanese airflots and won the game for me. Now I always have a soft spot in my heart for the possibilities that those usually outnumbered and outclassed minor navy ships furnish. I played a VitP game late last year where the Commonwealth defeat the Japanese three times in Indonesia shooting drink 7 land-based air and taking Saigon in the process. The American carriers got roughly handled every turn but the plucky British kept me in the game. Denmark as a cut affiliate can sometimes launch a sea invasion of northern Russia. This can cause some distress to the Coalition - not only does Russia have to turn resources away from the main (French) front but she can't use the Holy Mother Russia Home separate until the invasion is squelched. If the cut are lucky this can make a huge difference! Dragon go is packed full of minor powers. Sun Dome Templars. Sir Ethelrist & his color Horse Troop the Wintertop Exiles the Grazelanders - all small by the standards of the Big Two. Sartar and the Lunar Empire. But every one of these minor nations packs a affect. act the Trolls.. only 6 counters represent the entire nation. But one of them brings along a nuclear bomb.. once a game. Cragspider can obliterate every unit in a 3-hex triangle with her Pillar of Fire. Only Dragons and Superheroes can weather the blast. This is a game where allying a minor nation is a major event! Once I had a Serbian Army destroy 4 Austrian armies by placing them OOS (it joined up with the Russian front). And who hasn't seen the Arabs threatening to take Syria single-handed? The Rumanians! Those plucky little minor allies helped to keep a huge be of Russians tied up by holding some hills on my right and by having a supply dump with them. My Soviet opponent got fixated on killing them off and so wasted turn after turn attacking them when he could have wheeled his forces around and hit my flank. The Rumanains somehow held on until my opponent realized that even surrounding them they were comfort in supply. In a game fraught with both rules and operational mistakes my opponent ended up winning the game by a hit victory point but those Rumanians made sure it'd be a close game.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
